I think Discord, Slack, Microsoft Team, Outlook and WhatsApp notifications have taken a much bigger toll on my mental health. I get scared when I hear a notification bell or my phone vibrating. Yes, I have to use all of the above for my classes, plus Zoom, Blackboard, and Canvas. Ridiculous.

I guess voice-only calls are fine if you are just reviewing some files or concentrating the meeting on something else visual, or having a "routine" meeting. I personally think cameras need to be on if it is an interview or other deep and important conversation where you need to see people's body language and better gage their demeanor and engagement.

It's also easy to feel bullied over zoom or similar video conferencing. I think the screen allows people the freedom to say whatever they like, even if it's mean and hurtful (one on one call).

I feel like it depends on age. I had college in person and now I do University online and I love it way more. I don't want to travel to school to get my education

If there is no need to be seen on the webcam meeting online, they can just turn off the camera so they don't have to look at themselves and don't have to worry about others looking at them and they can minimize the number of people they see on zoom to a top corner, so they don't have to see so many talking heads, but do remain in the meeting and do talk in to make sure they all know you are online.

conclusion: Nobody wanna commute to the job, nobody wanna work at home neither. Everybody just wanna have fun at home, watching netflix and sit on the couch with a bowl of chips and a soda enjoying tv series, shows and movies....lol...that's it!! lol forget about the oppresion of working.

If Zoom is responsible for the toll on your mental health, then perhaps TODAY is responsible for the current state of media sensationalism. Kind of a ridiculous notion right? With all of the online platforms out there being used for so many different things how can you possible put Zoom in the headline of this story. I would venture that the amount of time spent on social media prior to the pandemic shutdown on platforms like The Facebook, Instagram, Whats app etc has induced stress and broken relationships far beyond the damage of the one platform you decide to call out in your headline. Twitter has done wonders for our political discourse. The pandemic has just shined a light on the misconception by people that online social networks are as good as personal interaction. No one was complaining about the dopamine hit they would get every time someone "liked " their post on xyz social network. We are just a society out of balance right now. Stop calling out a single platform
