For the finger guard you were on the right track with the plane, try adding the solidify modifier to this stage. It will be easier for you to get more organic shapes if your only working on a single plain, and let the solidifier turn it 3d.

For the trigger guard, I just use a cube and extrude a certain faces multiple times to follow the shape of the trigger guard.

Thank you so much for your videos. Personally, they will help me a lot soon. I'm going to make my own Space Marine order and really want to assemble it myself without buying original miniatures. And then the finished models should be given for casting.
I really want to see a video about armor and armor, as well as interesting variations of shoulder pads.

Hi! Do you need to boolean the model together or just joining them with overlapping geometry as long as there no open mesh? Just asking coz im modeling for 3d printing

For anyone else interested in sculpting for 3D I HIGHLY recommend the channel Artisan of Vaul, dude has helped me a lot in learning things. Especially his Do's and Dont's of Booleaning. Also if you're serious about hard surface modelling I highly recommend buying the Hardops/Boxcutter addon bundle.
