FRENCH PAPERS - Monday, February 6: Conservative presidential candidate François Fillon hits back at critics, as recent polls suggest he's trailing rivals Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron. All eyes are now set on the two candidates, who, as liberal daily L'Opinion argues, could not be more different. Les Echos takes a look at Macron's popularity. The former economy minister was virtually unknown two years ago and has never held elected office. He's now tipped to win the presidency in May.

Just for your information, Macron is supported very discreetly by Mr Francois Hollande, et Mr Berge (owner of Le Monde newspaper), and for I don't know what reason, most of the media are backing this candidate. I precise that I have nothing against Macron, but all that seems to me very fake and artificial. I am very interested in Politics, but seriously, I really don't see what is so incredible about Mr Macron? I just don't get it, and I know a lot about Economics. I am still hoping finding answers to my questions...
