Sorry, but this is outdated. Before airbags we were taught this way. Now the correct positions are 9 and 3 to avoid injury if the airbag is deployed.

You are wrong sir, 10&2 is not the "Proper Position" The proper and safest hand position is 9&2 for the airbags. Don't do it the right and safe way!

That couldn't be more wrong, for several reasons:
1 - the airbags can shatter your wrists;
2 - makes driving uncomfortable, especially for tall people who sit further back; ;-)
3 - with most new stupidly designed steering wheels you can't use your thumbs to control the car stereo and other devices for which the controls are placed on the steering wheel;
4 - gives you less control on tight turns, because one hand will go too far over the steering wheel and some people tend to lose grip.

The correct position is 9 and 3.

If you don't believe, then watch some videos of rallies and F1.
I would suppose those guys know what they are doing!!!

*The wheel is stylish and well made🔥 **allabout.wiki/006BK** Be sure to buy the appropriate installation kit for your vehicle as well as the wheel. The installation was a bit fussy as you had to hold a spring in place prior to adding the horn button, (and keep it in place as you finished). Grant could work on that issue a bit.*

All race track drivers use 9, 3. The reason is because that is all you need for every single bend on the track. If you drive with 10, 2 you will need to shuffle your wheel to go around the tight bends.

I thought it was 9 and 3. When did that change?

Obsolete hand positioning. 10 to 2 was suitable before servo steering mechanisms were introduced, as more force was needed for turning the wheel and this positioning was most optimal for that. Most if not all modern steering wheels are now even anatomically and ergonomically designed for 15 to 3 hand position. As seen in this video and most if not all modern steering wheels; even control dials and knobs are positioned for easy thumb reach when hands are in 15 to 3 position and are impossible to reach with 10 to 2 hand positioning without leting go the steering.

Oh shit I thought my left hand was supposed to go on the 2 and my right on the 10. Good thing my mom sent me this video. A little too late for those 3 children.

My parents drive their automatics with two feet, 1 on the gas and 1 on the brake... lolI told them that's dangerous because you can get confused in a situation and hit the gas instead of the brake.

How can I put both my hands at 10:00 & 2:00 and still hold my beer?

It was the biggest bullshit I've ever heard! Optimal position is 9 and 3. That's why all steering wheel look like as they are.

I absolutely hate to see people driving with their hands on the very top of the steering wheel at 11:55 and 12:05...I drive closer to 9 and 3.

Most youngsters these days don't use the visual of a round clock. Because they use their phones on digital time.

Formula one drivers put their thumbs inside when they go fast and they hold it 9-3. Normal car you can not hold 9-3 it s 10-2 cause there is no space to grab the wheel. I personally hold the wheel in many positions depending of the situation. Position of the hands is not as important as your anticipation and reflexes. When I see some people with 2 hands on the wheel often they look constipated. I will challenge any of those people on the track. Don't forget when you drive a manual you drive with one hand most of the time.
