Dreadnought Dominion - Episode 102 - Anchors Aweigh

We had written the script for our first episode, “Haunted” and were prepared to shoot it in mid-January 2014. But when it was discovered that most of us were attending Farragut Fest in December of 2013, we decided to do a one day shoot during that weekend.

As the writer, I wanted to add a bit of mystery and intrigue so I added the scene at the beginning in which Admiral Bennett informs Commodore Grissom that he has been cleared of any fault in the investigation into the “Cromwell Nebula Incident.” She then gives him his launch orders, and advises him to be ready for a sensitive mission sometime in the future.

So, immediately after Farragut Fest 2013, we shot this short film.

We hope you enjoy it.

A missing background piece for me to complete my hunt for storylines for the Dominion series. Thank you happy I found this today.

I greatly enjoy seeing the Starfleet of TOS and the other vessel's that are a part of the fleet. I hope one day to see the Starfleet Marine Corps in action serving under the command of U.S.S Dominion!

The beginning segment with the Commodore being cleared of culpability after the Cromwell Nebula incident seems a little unnecessary, but the dialog between the other characters does "fit" the style of TOS. It was also interesting to see the old style chairs being used. Sadly I do not think Doctor T'Meryl will last long because the character comes across as a reanimated survivor of the Cromwell Nebula. If we believe the members of Starfleet were (or are) the best of the best, then it should hold true they would be physically fit and ready to fight in a pinch. The TOS crew members always appeared to be capable of running the deck of Enterprise if the situation demanded it, and that is important to the feel of everything. Space is an environment requiring much more energy than a trip to the local shopping mall. However, this is not a bad overall effort: I would give it 6 out of a possible 10 points.

I didnt enjoy episode 1 because of the bad sound. This episode is a great improvement. The sound is much better. The cast seem like they get along from their acting. I hope next episode we finally get into some drama. Nice rec lounge set too.

THe only reason I can think of for a third nacelle is if your design is poor. OR woefully inefficient. If warp 9 or whatever is your max, and 10 is supposedly impossible, then you could have ten nacelles and you'd still hit that wall at 9.9 or whatever. So what's the point? And the little deflector dishes next to the big one, what's that all about? Why not just make a bigger big one? They just slapped it all on there for shits and giggles didn't they???
