Great video. Grieving shinglebacks is soo sad :( I always find it kind of funny when people say blue tongues are slow though. Yes, when relaxed they tend to move very slowly, but as someone who lives in Australia and has encountered these guys in the wild, I can tell you that when threatened they can move like lightning. It's usually only when they are cornered that they will turn around and start displaying their tongue. Most of the time they will sprint to get away from you.

I wonder how long til the skinks lose their limbs (evolution wise). The shingle back is beyond adorable 😍 Seeing it grieve though, that literally broke my heart. Poor baby 😭

My dream reptile is the shingleback skink, I love the fact that they pair for life, but I also like the fact that Australia has taking efforts to protect their native wildlife by not allowing them to be removed for the pet trade anymore, so it would cost the equivalent of my undergrad tuition to get a pair of them from a legal breeder here in the states.
