I used to work at Five Guys for 4 years on/off during college. All ingredients are cut and prepped fresh daily. Things like grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, bacon are not kept overnight and must be made in the morning every day. The only veggies that can sit in the refrigerator overnight are cut fries, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, raw onions, raw mushrooms, peppers, and pickles. Most produce if not used by the end of the 2nd day are thrown out. The beef is also rolled and smashed daily and also will usually be used by the second day. The reason Five Guys costs so much is because the beef for the burgers is Grade A beef (best quality) and the veggies are continually brought in fresh every few days. Therefore you're paying for the higher quality beef and freshness of the veggies. There are no preservatives. When prepping the fries and veggies every morning we would throw out tomatoes or potatoes or other veggies like entire lettuce heads that were not up to par or spoiled from the shipment. Yes, some will complain about the high prices but you're getting higher quality ingredients. You don't get the same quality from In-N-Out or Shake Shack. They use lower quality beef, potatoes and veggies across the board which is why it's cheaper. Shake Shack's fries come in frozen and In-N-Out isn't using grade A beef and using a non-commercial potato(Not russet). Nothing is frozen at Five Guys and the peanut oil used to cook the fries is also expensive. Most places use a cheap oil or type of vegetable oil that isn't really designed for cooking french fries. I did notice the store in the video should've replaced the cut lettuce. It looks a bit wilted and should not be served.

It's been ages since I've been to a Five Guys. Though the burgers are pretty good, the best part use to be that you'd order a "small fry" and they'd literally half-fill a to go bag with them. Seriously, it's like they ignore the size of the container and just dump a load of fries in the bag--a potato lovers dream. Oh, and they have malt vinegar at the condiment counter which, IMHO, is 100% the best condiment for french fries.

I hate when people use the term “burger flipper” as an insult. You people are bringing joy and happiness and delicious goodness to the world. You’re hero’s in my opinion. I’m never in a bad mood when I know I’m about to plow a 5GB

One of the things I like about Five Guys is that they make your burger EXACTLY the way YOU want it. And with their long list of toppings and condiments, you can't lose!!!

Want fries? FG gives you a large serving and then dumps 50% more in the bottom of the bag just for laughs. No one ever leaves FG saying, "I didn't get enough fries."

Ahhh Five Guys.... the only place where you have more overflow bonus-frys in the bag than you do in the container! So delicious! 🍟

Gotta appreciate how they squash their beef patties kinda gently compared to other patty squashers I've seen on here, they don't leave the iron on them to the point that every single bit of juice is squeezed out

The last person who cook the burger patties, she made it perfectly.

I love five guys so much. I only eat once in a while because it's not cheap and definitely not healthy. But also eating it everyone once in while makes me appreciate it more.
I love five guys so much I so want to buy into a franchise but I could never afford it.

Would have liked to see more of the fries. Like the whole process. They cut the fries fresh everyday. It would have been nice to see that.

I don't typically eat fast food, but on the occasions I've had Five Guys, their meals have been really good. And they are very generous with the fries.

0:13 As someone who has worked in the fast food business before, that lettuce is not fresh. It was from the night before.

love seeing things like this, as I am looking to start my own burger restaurant, videos like these are good for inspiration and gave a good inside look at how these fast-food chains operate.

Lived in the US for 14 years, love Five Guys. Have moved back to Australia now and the first Five Guys has just opened here, only problem is it is not in my state, hurry up and open one in Queensland.

Eating Five Guys has always been a treat, man. Even though they cost more compared to other fast food joints, it’s worth every penny. Burgers and fries are both top-notch in my opinion.

Yeah, 5 guys is my goto when I want quality and flavor 💯 they never disappoint. I hear other places are better, but an excellent burger, a bag full of fries, and an awesome milkshake... what more do you need. peace and love

When I lived in Washington, we used to go to Five Guys Burgers and Fries all the time. Unfortunately, I had to move to Canada, and the town we live in now - even the large city an hour away - doesn't have Five Guys. You can imagine me and my family was pretty torn.
One day, we traveled to an even larger city that was two hours away from our home (1 hour from the closest city). When we were driving along the highway that went into the city, we stumbled across a Five Guys and all collectively let out the loudest gasp ever. Finally, we could go back to the boring, American "tradition" of ordering a large to-go bag full of fries and the best burgers ever. I'm really craving Five Guys now.
