Málaga is located in southern Spain, on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) on the northern side of the Mediterranean Sea.
Geography lesson over, let's enjoy Robert Farnon's musical picture of this beautiful part of the world.
'Malaga', the melody, first appeared in the Chappell recorded Music Library in 1954.
Under normal circumstances it would have been performed by the Queen's Hall Light Orchestra but, with the decade-long musicians' strike on, Chappell was forced to record on the Continent.
The Danish State Radio Orchestra was engaged with Robert Farnon, among several other conductors, travelling to Copenhagen to direct proceedings.
The record label usually credited the fictitious Melodi Light Orchestra conducted by Ole Jensen.
This is the version played here.
'Malaga' was issued commercially in 1956 on the Decca/London 12 inch LP “Melody Fair', played by Robert Farnon's own orchestra. (Decca LK4140/London LL1280).
