Module 1 A: Introduction to Universal Design, Accessibility Planning and Social Inclusion

The introductory module highlights the overall intent and aim of the SMUS MOOC. This module has been conceptualised in two sessions.

Module 1 Session A:
The first session introduces the idea of human diversity, intersectionality and co-existence in our built environment. It aims to evolve a comprehensive understanding of Universal Design, Accessibility Planning and Social Inclusion as concepts and their interlinkages. Using a human-centric approach, it sensitises and introduces the key concepts towards creating an inclusive environment with a focus on India and the Global South as perspectives. It concludes with a brief introduction of each of the twelve (12) modules of this MOOC.
