Cubans across the country have started using Chinese-made electric cars and scooters. They are seen as a more cost-effective mode of transport, as fuel prices remain high and public transport unreliable. To increase the presence of electric vehicles, China's Tianjin Dongxing Industrial, along with Cuban state-owned company Minerva, created Caribbean Electric Vehicles (Vedca), a joint venture that has quickly changed the face of transportation in the capital Havana.

Tesla is not made to surpass Toyota, it's only sports cars. Chinese EVs on the other hand want to enter daily life. That's why they are leading in sales now.

Thanks China, for actually helping developing countries, unlike some countries with all talks and no actions.

Countries with limited domestic fossile fuel source but abundant sunlight should shift to an electricity based economy to be self sufficient

With more China investment in Cuba, the Cuban people will enjoy prosperity, peace, and a higher standard of living. Manufacturing electric bike is only the first joint venture between Cuban and Chinese companies. The future joint Cuban-Chinese manufacturing will include EVs, EV trucks, and EV boats. Cuba will be the manufacturing capital of the Caribbean.

We are at the beginning of a significant disruption phase. Electric vehicles, from bikes to cars, to tractors and buses, are rapidly gaining popularity for two key reasons: first, the Chinese have mastered the production of high-quality batteries at a low cost; second, an electric vehicle can drive over 110 miles on just $3 of energy, making it far more economical than gasoline-powered cars.

Just as LED bulbs have replaced legacy light bulbs, solid-state drives have overtaken hard disks, and digital imaging has replaced film, the widespread adoption of electric vehicles is inevitable.

I observe that western products in general and their EV cars in particular will be more and more expensive overtime. They will surely mount up trade barriers against China, but Chinese products will displace Western ones in the Global South. As a result, Western products will be increasingly pricey due to higher cost (energy, salary...) but fewer sold units (they can mostly sell in their own domestic markets, plus very niche markets abroad such as extremely luxurious segments). The manufacturing pattern in which a car company sells about hundreds of cars per year, but with the price of one million dollars per car will be common in western world.

Cuba and many other south american and Asian countries have been strangled by American economic sanctions and embargoes for a long time, these electric vehicles and cheap goods and trade with china means more than u think, it is the catalyst and the beginning of economic development and growth and eventually one day being strong enough to overcome the tyranny of
