Biography of Jean Piaget
Jean Piaget, (born August 9, 1896, Switzerland—died September 16, 1980, Geneva), Swiss psychologist who was the first to make a systematic study of the acquisition of understanding in children. He is thought by many to have been the major figure in 20th-century developmental psychology.
Piaget’s early interests were in zoology, as a youth he published an article on his observations of an albino sparrow, and by 15 his several publications on mollusks had gained him a reputation among European zoologists. At the University of Neuchatel, he studied zoology and philosophy, receiving his doctorate in 1918.

• Employed at Binet Institute in 1920 for making intelligence test and find there children and adults giving different answers for the same question, then he started work on it.
• Alfred Binet is known as the developer of the world's first intelligence test, and Piaget took part in scoring these assessments.
• Prior to Piaget's theory, children were often thought of simply as mini- adults.
• Piaget claimed that children’s way of thinking is fundamentally different from the adults.
• His early career consisted of work in the natural sciences, it was during the 1920s that he began to move toward work as a psychologist.
• He married Valentine Chatenay in 1923, and they have three children.
