RIDGELINE VI: KAZAKHSTAN - GEE ATHERTON

Ridgeline, the renowned mountain bike film series known for capturing some of the most awe-inspiring and high-stakes mountain bike adventures across the globe, launches its latest and most ambitious instalment: Ridgeline VI: Kazakhstan.

In pursuit of a fresh challenge, the Ridgeline team turned their sights beyond the familiar mountains of Europe. Seeking a place of mystery and raw, untouched beauty, they found themselves drawn to Kazakhstan. Covering an immense 2.7 million square kilometres, Kazakhstan is the world's ninth-largest country, a land that demands a new level of preparation and respect. Unlike previous projects where the team could adapt quickly, Kazakhstan's vast and remote stretches required far greater planning. With long distances between petrol stations and rugged, isolated terrain, every step of the journey had to be carefully thought out.

Gee's journey in Kazakhstan saw him tackling huge, natural lines onboard his Atherton Bikes A.200, calling on every inch of travel to soften the rugged desert terrain. Hitting massive, loose scree slopes, often blindly, with just one take to nail it, the experience has redefined the team's understanding of big mountain riding potential, highlighting the delicate balance between ambition and the unforgiving reality of these untouched environments.

A huge thank you to Red Bull Kazakhstan for supporting us on this project.

And a massive thanks for the huge efforts from the crew:

now THIS is freeride!! Reminds me of the very first couple of Rampage events - finding sweet lines down sick terrain no need for tricks just style for miles and balls of steel. Props to Gee and his crew for another truly amazing ridgeline vid! You've come a long way since seeing you make a crazy tree root gap at PORC back in the days (muddyfox era)

as born and raised Mountain Biker from Almaty Kazakhstan, the big city that surrounds the mountains in the video, i'am so proud that people are exploring my country outside of BORAT Boundaries, we have a lot of different mountain ranges - and very big filming potential for segments like this. We also have 3 bike parks, that are fun and beginner and expert friendly.

Oh my god! Honestly, I don't follow extreme bike sport, but when I found out that you were here, I decided to watch this video, it really was amazing. Kazakhstan is my native country, and even I am surprised by your mastery of cycling and by these views. Thank you!

I grew up in Kazakhstan so it's awesome to see someone riding the trails we rode as kids! They look just as gnarly as I remember when we built them in the 90s!

That canyon runs looked so damn fun to ride. Amazing work as always all involved. Also, got a bit of a Top Gear vibe with this one.

Incredible Gee, the team, Redbull, and the Kazak people! This just makes me want to go explore whether that’s on the bike, rope, kayak, or feet. Invigorating video to keep getting after it and go travel to see the world

Epic Quest Complete ✅
Minute 4:54 (gaps) gave me chills.
There are no “lines”. He is making them up basically live.
Epic riding. AND epic filming. In particular those narrow channels where the drone is following him tight. Almost looks like another rider following him close!
