If I was a horse crazy kid these days when any horse ownership is inaccessible for most kids, I'd definitely be a contender here, even if I had to make a hobby horse out of a sock and a broomstick and just ran obstacle courses in the back yard. It's quite active and a great outlet.

This is a cool concept as a play game for kids, but it has nothing on being a real equestrian. It’s fine to partake in hobby horsing, but the line ends when you equate it to real equestrianism.

as a hobby horser, this just offended me. We dont think were equestrians we just want to feel like an equestrian. Hobby horses can be expensive too, reaching up to 300 pounds, not saying its more expensive then a horse but hobbyhorsing isnt cheap either. I have 5 Hobbyhorses and all together they cost over 400 pounds, tack and accesories are expensive too. But we dont think were equestrians. This sport takes a lot of skill, strength, speed and courage. And it is dangerous. Keep in mind im not saying it more hard or dangerous then horse riding, im just saying Hobbyhorsing isnt cheap and easy.

It does not help you get the feel of riding a horse. I do find it impressive they can jump that high, etc but it is just barely similar to equestrianism, if not at all.

Honestly why do equestrians hate on HH I ride real and fake hobby horses and can jump higher then most actual horse riders can (NOT HATE I SWEAR ON GOD)

Hobby horsing is a sport, it includes physical activity. Hobby horsers can own their own horses and hobby horse in the free time or (like most) don’t have time/ money to look after horses. The dressage side of hobby horsing has an element of dance to it, sorta mimicking the actual horse dressage. No hobby horser thinks they are an equestrian unless they own a horse.

I don’t get why people spread misinformation..DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!!!
