I feel like I've stumbled across some distributive conspiracy theorem

For anyone curious, it’s the same as multiplying by a reciprocal: 12/(6/2) turns into 12(2/6)

dang never learnt division like this and never used that symbol

We do use this.

It’s basically the Keep, Change, Flip method that we use with fractions.

You know, where we use the reciprocal of the fraction to the right of the operator, and then change to multiplication.

This is a cool way to interpret the problem! It would be useful if you had something like 12÷(6÷5) because you can avoid working with a fraction.

Me when I start: easy peasy
After watching the video: what the hell is this method

I got it this way:
I used BODMAS for calculating. (used as an order for these kind of sums, which stands for Bracket Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction).

So, => 12÷(6÷2)
=> 12÷3
=> 4 :)

Apart from BODMAS...what he is saying is actually true...coz what the question is asking is: 12/(6/2)
So, 2 comes in the numerator and the question comes as 12×2/6...and hence the answer 4
The method is not new...we just got stumbled upon it by ÷ and × symbols for the first time 😁

Your channel's so useful ngl, but am repenting I didn't find it earlier

You can also divide the expression in the parentheses. You then get 12/(3) = 4

Same result when you write it as 12 over 6÷2 which is 12/3 and hence 4

Man used the wrong formula but still got it correct

According to bodmas/bedmas it would still be
12/(6/2)
6/2=3
12/3=4
4

I’m confused isn’t it BODMAS brackets first then division

something

I think solving the bracket first is much easier
i.e
12÷(6÷2)
12÷3
=4

I’m pretty sure all of my algebra, calculus and engineering classes taught me the distributive property of division wrong; and this guy is a mathematical genius.

The reason why all math teachers are so excited about math is they dont have to do the work or tests

Or you could just do 6/2 and then get 12/3 which also gets you 4 both ways work.

Me when I learn how to do the distributive property for the first time:

that's novel that there happens to be a distributive property. but following the order of operation produces the correct answer as well.
