You can also use the fact that 216+6 = 222 and 216 = 6^3 to do basically the same thing, just with a difference of cubes instead of a difference of squares

Nice!
You could also do the following:
y³+y = 222
y(y²+1) = 2(111) = 2(3)(37) = 6(37) = 6(6²+1)
y(y²+1) = 6(6²+1)
y = 6 works!!!
🤩

One of the greatest teacher in this platform love your videos ❤

we can first check if there are integer solutions ... if there are, they must be divisors of 222 = 37*2*3 ... and we find that 6 is actually a solution ... so the equation becomes a second degree equation

LHS is strictly inc hence has only one solution😊

This needs to get much more view. Just 31k views in 7 months of a precious video is not acceptable. Sorry but I don't understand society now.

At 1:33 you can practically see that y=6. Testing it out proves that that's a solution to the substituted problem

So there’s three solutions: two imaginary solutions and one real solution.

Bro's videos are always so simplistic. I'm a college algebra professor and we teach this in Algebra class. It's simply a substitution then utilizing the Rational Root theorem.

I like the part where you conveniently summon the factorisation of the cubic from nowhere lol. It took me a hot while to do it by hand.

Really it was a beautiful video, thank you!

HI, you could have saved the work by converting it into a depressed cubic with 2^x=w giving us : w^3 + w -222=0.It would too get the samw answer of Log 6 base 2 or approx. =2.58

I've figured out a way by which we can find the valus of y in y^n - y - 1 = 0

2^x(2^2x+1)=6(6^2+1)
Equating coefficient
2^x=6
2^2x=37

someone please tell me what im doing wrong, first I log base 2 each side and get 3xlog(base2)2 + xlog(base2)2 = log(base2)222, then i simplify to 4x = log(base2)222 and then x = log(base2)222/4.

Am i the only one that tried to use Ln to make it into a polynomial?

This would mean based on the simplified equation y^3 + y = 222, that y = 6, so this means the x-th root of 6 = 2.
