Why did the Israelites have to go into Egypt? The Most High could have protected and provided for them in their homeland just as he protected and provided for them in Goshen.

God took Israel out of Egypt to lead him to himself, and become a nation that serves God. God lead Moses and the people from Egypt, the 40 years in the wilderness, and then to the land of milk and honey. If you read further to Exodus 19:6 ….”a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation….”(KJV) you have to read before a scripture and after to understand the intent of that scripture.
