You can be more generous with the thermal paste, putting more than you need is better than not putting enough.

Edit dec9 2023 : Also, the thermal pads are totally optional. Thanks to @starXY1, I have come to realization that the thermal pads could worsen the thermals of the laptop so you can just ignore that part of the video. (I'm not certain about this information but do as you wish.)

8:49 - Unclipping the connectors inside

You can just use a wet-wipe to get rid of any old paste, i have never caused damage doing that way. Just make sure that it is completely dry before reassembling

I have the same laptop all is good only the disappointment is the cpu is fixed with the motherboard and it can't be replaced (( i though to upgrade it to i7 but not possible.
