'Lies have consequences': Dominion reacts to Fox settlement

Speaking after Dominion Voting Systems reached a US$787.5m settlement in its defamation lawsuit against Fox, the company's attorney Justin Nelson says the outcome "represents vindication and accountability".

Dominion CEO John Poulos says Fox 'has admitted to telling lies' about the voting equipment company that caused 'enormous damage'. The settlement ends a dispute over whether Fox and its parent company knowingly broadcast false and outlandish allegations that Dominion was involved in a plot to steal the 2020 election. Neither party disclosed the terms of the settlement other than the dollar amount, and attorneys for Dominion declined to answer questions about whether it requires Fox to issue a retraction or a formal apology.

Would have been better for the American public if this had been tried in full. Might have set some precedents for journalistic accountability. All this says is lies don't have consequences if you have lots of money and can settle out of Court.

The settlement should have included a requirement for Fox news anchors to repeat multiple times each night that they lied to their viewers.

Should have included a demand that Murdoch and his achors all have to go on live and explain to their viewers that they lied, that they never even believe in the lie. They should be force run a commercial daily prime time to explaining this fact.
