Incredible how tape echo units are so sought after now and how the price had gone up so much. Back in the late 70s and early 80s the Maestro Echoplex would sell $60 in the used market and $200 new. Back then, everyone was getting rid of the tape echoes in favor for the digital rack mount delays. Good thing I kept three of them in my collection, but regret selling one in the 90s for $90.

1:19 very reminiscent to the intro of Mazzy star's - Into you. This pedal sounds amazing.

Stunning pedal! I need that in front of my 5e3 Tweed Deluxe.
Thanks for the great review!

Just got one today. Glad to see the massive flutter on slower delay isn't just my unit.

little high on price but it sounds awesome. T-Rex builds some very nice units, octavius is another great box.

What a beautiful sound 😊 I would love to have this. But it's worth as much as my guitar.

damn this sounds so nice. ive known about tape delay for years and always associated them with a specific flavor like a 'spring' or 'hall' and never realized it actually used tape and had such a delicious warm sound. this pedal may cost a third of my guitar but damnit i want

I realize this is an old thread but I have to say this when people compare then and now prices. $200 in 1972 is equivalent to $1350 today. $60 in 1972 is equivalent to about $400 today. Add to the fact that the originals are not as plentiful &”$800-1000 is about right for vintage equipment.

$900?!?!? LOL. Yeah, sounds good, hope you sell one.

Sounds great, looks great, but $900 for a delay pedal?? Only rich folks and rock stars will be able to afford it. Not to mention, that tape will eventually wear out and/or break. That'll be even more $$$. At least you'll have that sweet natural delay sound while you're living in a cardboard box by the river.

this demo is okay to know how it sounds on ballads, but I expected him to play scotty moore and brian setzer so im none the wiser what its like for rock n roll

If you just want a delay pedal, you can easily and should look elsewhere.
If you want something more; something to cherish, nurture and tinker with; something that will become as important to you as your favourite guitar; something that is quite beautiful in every way, then should cast an eye over the Replicator.

At 1:43 the tape visibly snags, and the pitch changes. Is that part of the design?!?!?!

Looks really sick, but I could get a completely rebuilt echoplex for almost the same amount and this thing couldn't hold a flame to it.

It would have been nice to hear what the chorus sounded like turned up.

can you move the head like on a real Echoplex? The most important feature to me.

That thing is so beautiful that I wouldn't want to step on it... But 900$ you can buy a space echo and probably save some money!

Hmmm, Let's see. For $900.00...A T-Rex Replicator? An American Special Strat? or an excellent used (insert brand here) tube amp? I'm sorry, the price is ridiculous for what it does! I'll hope & wait for the Donner / Joyo copy!

I don't understand how this works... Is the tape a consumable? Or can you keep writing over and over it? What happens when the tape reaches the end? Or is this a loop that keeps going around?
