Macron to face-off against Le Pen for French presidency

Far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has progressed to the second round of the election and will face off against incumbent leader Emmanuel Macron on April 24.

This is the National Rally leader’s third attempt at the French presidency, and polls suggest the office may be in reach for the 53-year-old.

Ms Le Pen has softened her image since her 2017 election loss, focusing on the cost of living crisis and moving away from anti-immigration rhetoric.

However, critics contend her far-right values still remain despite the more palatable image she is presenting to voters.
