‘Emotional and powerful moment’: A defiant Donald Trump arrives at RNC after assassination attempt

Sky News host Gabriella Power has reacted to the "emotional moment" former US president Donald Trump arrived at the Republican National Convention.

Mr Trump arrived with a large bandage covering his right ear after it was pierced by a bullet on Saturday when a 20-year-old man tried to kill him.

The crowd at the convention roared in support of the former president and chanted, “fight, fight fight”.

“What an emotional and powerful moment for his family, his supporters, and for America,” Ms Power said.

There are reports Donald Trump has “torn up” the original speech he intended to make at the convention and has written a new one focused on unity.
