Famagusta: The Abandoned City Frozen in Time

Famagusta, Cyprus: A Silent Witness to the Past.This part of Famagusta was home to Greek Cypriots and was called Varosha.
But during the 1974 war, Turkish forces took control of the city, and all residents of Varosha were ordered to leave within a day. Later, the United Nations stated that only the original residents could return. However, the Turkish army did not allow anyone to enter, neither Greek nor Turkish. For decades, the city remained empty and untouched.
Time here feels like it stopped. Buildings are crumbling, plants are taking over, and old cars are rusting. It’s like a moment from the past frozen in time.
Today, things are starting to change. The Turkish authorities have opened parts of the city to tourists. Famagusta is still a symbol of lost memories but has become a place of curiosity and reflection for those who visit.
