My video showing easy access(DIY) drain for John Deer Lawnmower (STX38) differential. Taking your lawnmower apart is not needed to change oil in your John Deer lawn mower. John Deer does not make junk or secret areas of lubrication for lawn mowers to discourage DIY maintenance.

Those Stx John Deere models were their best selling mowers to this day. They sold millions of them because they are reliable and easy to work on. My Stx38 is one hundred times better than the La145 john deere i replaced it with; I set my la145 aside and still run the Stx38 instead. I recently ordered the mulching kit for my black deck, i love it; only wish i could find a hood for my stx38, they want $300 for a new one and that is a little bit rich for my blood.

On my stx38 the oil did not come out until I removed the bolt with the set screw in it.
