FILM DESCRIPTION:
Fresh off of their success with director Martin Scorsese's The Departed, star Leonardo DiCaprio and screenwriter William Monahan team with director Ridley Scott for this screen adaptation of David Ignatius' novel Body of Lies. When CIA operative Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) uncovers evidence indicating that a major terrorist leader may be operating out of Jordan, he enlists the aid of CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) in infiltrating the elusive saboteur's vast underground network. During the course of his dangerous mission, Ferris gradually comes to question how much he can trust his presumed allies -- who include not just Hoffman, but the outwardly helpful head of Jordanian intelligence as well.

Actually came back to this movie after watching Triple Frontier with Oscar Isaac (who plays Basaam in this scene). How far the guy's gotten in a decade.

This was a very good film, although I think DiCaprio’s early scenes with Oscar Isaac - this one included - were easily the best part. And this was the first time I remember seeing any of Isaac’s work. Tremendous actor. Glad he’s getting finally getting his just due.

Although Ridley Scott is not as overtly pro-Muslim as he was with the film Kingdom of Heaven the entire movie depicts Americans in a negative light. The Hoffman character is a selfish, counter productive, slovenly dressed dumpy "fat slob". Pasha is suave, dressed exquisitely, just and all knowing. The love interest is a sweet, naive Muslim girl. The US Station chief is Amman is an idiot and gets rudely replaced by the Ferris character. Pasha body guard is exquisitely dressed. Ferris body guard is slovenly and duplicitous. Ferris character is sympathetic to the plight of Muslims and Pasha calls him a secret Arab with a warm smile and Ferris accepts this. If you can get past these subtle and not so subtle slants the action scenes are powerful, but again the Muslims are always dedicated and efficient and the US is inept. The Bi Laden character is also exquisitely dressed, totally dedicated and efficient. F

The screenplay is childish ... and we continued watching because of the cast DiCaprio and Crowe but had to give up after 2/3 ... it was just trying too hard to be cute. Typical scene: Crowe is answering a call from an endangered DiCaprio at 3am while he helps his young son to point at the toilet ... hows that for concentration? Awful film.
