Excellent review! As you say ... these independent reviews are quite rare.

Using it like this video with the massive standing logs is quite opposite to what the manual says. The rear air infusers wkntwork then and then it wont burn clean. It has a nominal output of 5.5kw.

It's difficult to find independent reviews on this, so thanks for posting. Jotul have since redesigned it, but have missed some opportunities IMHO. It's still the most popular stove in Europe, and the earlier version was the only wood burner to ever receive the coveted "Red Dot" design award, although personally I have no idea why. This stove is a HEAD or HEART choice. There are far better designed stoves for the same money - your HEAD would tell you to buy the HETA 900 Scan Line, or a HWAM, but your HEART (and the missus) would tell you to buy the Jotul F373, which is, frankly, beautiful. It graces a high-end interior and is a talking point. The big glass, the raised position on it's plinth - the elegance...superb. BUT, even with the V2 Advance redesigned model, you have a small ashpan (contrast that with the HETA gorgeously convenient 5 litre deep pan), a fiddly, poor riddle system (again, contrast with the HETA), ash that drops out on door opening if you're not careful with log size (small) and positioning when loading. Also the "afterthought" pull-out/push-in control mechanism sticking out of the front of the stove (why-oh-why!!!). Contrast with the superb rotating dial adjust on the HETA -superb!!! Also, this stove won't stay in all night. Frequent loading needed. I think even the newer version doesn't permit external direct air supply - why not? Max output of 10Kw, whereas the HETA is 12-13Kw. The Jotul is below 80% efficiency, but the HETA is 83%. I could go on....
So, am I buying a HETA or HWAM? No. I'm buying the F373. Why? Because of its drop-dead gorgeous looks. I can put up with its problems, because it's beautiful.

You're a popular guy! Great video. I'm looking at this for all the points you mentioned, space, supplemental heat, etc.

Hey Bill, thanks for the video. I am currently in the market of this particular stove and could not find any review until now. You have answered most of my questions. Great review!

Bill, can you offer a video on cleaning the Jotul F370 Woodstove?

I really want this stove, but $4k is pretty insane, especially if it's a DIY install where the stove will be the major cost component. I might consider it at $2500, but that's probably not gonna happen. :-(

Hi, thanks for the review! Is there any chance you know what is temperature around 40 cm away from stove in the back and on the sides?

Hi Bill. my house is big 658, 752 sq ft.

I’ve had this stove for five years and use it daily six months a year in Ottawa Canada. My only complaint about this stove is that anything longer than 14-15 inches is a problem to fit in. I buy wood from my neighbour who cuts my wood smaller so it’ll fit. I can’t tell you how many times a blazing chunk has fallen out and nearly burned my house down. I really hate this stove.

HI Bill, we have this very stove, you speak of how long wood lasts, going by your video and the roaring fire inside, no wonder you wood doesn't last very long.
If you haven't, you need to throttle it back a lot, that fire is way over fired, if you control the damper the heat would be more than double of the fire you have going now. I clean the ash out one a year because there is little to no ash if you use the stove as directed. I've been heating with wood for most of my life.

I'd miss the ability to put a coffee percolator or tea kettle on a flat plate top at a safe height. For a high end living area it looks great.

I love the looks... is there something similar that burns longer? With a small fan built in to help radiate heat?

Holy shit, how hot is the outlet temperature? The old Suburban would heat a gym if you put enough wood in it
