I worked at a union hospital. It is against the law to abandon your patients. When a strike has been declared, the hospital has 10 days before the strike date to prepare with downsizing the census and replacing the staff, most likely with travelers. On the day of the strike, nurses must be released off their floor or units to have the right to strike. I know this scenario is television, but it is important that the public knows the truth should this ever happen in real life.

in real life nurses save a lot of lives... I had my baby at home. He never cried and started turning blue. I had a couple midwives and also a nicu nurse had come along to watch. I kept saying the baby's got something wrong with him!!!
Because the midwife was dealing with my issues she was ignoring the baby. The nurse had my husband take the baby to the fire department for oxygen.
It turned out he had aspirated fluid and was drowning. By the time the fire department helped him they said he had maybe a minute before he would have collapsed!
Without that nurse, ,, to accually LISTEN my iñfantr😮🎉❤❤ infant son ❤❤😂would have been dead!!!

Kapiolani Women's and Childrens Hospital did a one day strike then were locked out from returning. The hospital refuses to let them back in till they sign the contract that they refused to sign as it did not address the nurses concerns. The hospital is now staffed by travel nurses and the families of the patients there are very concerned.

It is actually a law that nurses are not allowed to do a walkout. If they have been in their patients they can actually be charged if one of them die
