Chernobyl’s Silent Heroes🙏🕊️

The "Chernobyl Three" were three plant workers—Alexei Ananenko, Valeri Bespalov, and Boris Baranov—who volunteered for a critical mission during the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. After Reactor 4 exploded, water beneath the reactor threatened to cause a massive steam explosion if it came into contact with the molten core. To prevent this, the three men entered a highly radioactive, flooded basement to open a valve and drain the water, knowing the radiation exposure could be fatal. Their bravery prevented an even worse catastrophe and saved countless lives across Europe.

If they didn't do this mission 2/3rds of Europe would've been inhabitable. My hats off to them

They all actually survived
One has passed today due to (probably) unrelated heart problems,
But the other 2 are still alive as of when I last checked.
