Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber is legendary, but fans actually saw their first version of the weapon years earlier!

Ray Park is the one who gave Maul's lightsaber its iconic look. The hilt of his and many lightsabers that came later is elongated because of the stuntwork that cant be done with short hilt

Maul based his on an old blueprint from a sith halocron if I remember right so it's not really a new fact
