I had to deal with the mob just from owning a bar in NYC, sanitation, laundry services, etc., and growing up in Brooklyn I already knew the score when I decided to open my own place. To be honest, I had easier times dealing with the mob than with the state and city government.

My ex father in law owned a trucking company in northern New Jersey. He told me it was impossible to do so without some interaction with the Mafia in that area. Before that, he owned a waste disposal company, where some Mafia guys came in, and basically became his partners by just telling him that they were his partners now.

I just want to say, the fact that Michael Franzese can be friends with Rudy Giuliani after Rudy tried to indict him (I can’t remember if he was the one who eventually locked him up) shows true character. They had an understanding of roles.
