Changes to tourist visas on the way, and masks WILL be discussed at this week's CCSA meeting. We discuss some changes to capital punishment around the region, options for people retiring around the world and check a survey we've done in the past 24 hours.

More proposals are heading to next week’s crucial CCSA meeting where Thailand’s Covid taskforce is poised to make several key changes to the reopening of the country and existing restrictions.

Among the latest proposals to be tabled next week are changes to tourist visas. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, with support of a wide variety of tourism associations and players from around the country, will propose a visa fee exemption for foreigners arriving in Thailand and an eligibility extension for travellers from countries not requiring a visa to enter Thailand from 30 to 45 days during the rest of 2022.

The proposals are also looking to provide free multiple re-entry stamps on their visa which would allow them to do side trips to countries bordering Thailand.

After 13 years doing retirement extension, I grew tired of the yearly nightmare of paperwork and their control of my money. Philippines has the easiest immigration.I suggest Thai Immigration attempt to recognize the 1-2 million baht I spend yearly DIRECTLY into the thai economy.Stop the constant changes. After five years of jumping through hoops they should let us do an affidavit saying everything is the same as last year and do a one page visa extension

Tim, many thanks for the OVERTIME from yourself, during Jays sickness over this past week, you really are the backbone at Thaiger, and will be hugely missed, I’m sure of that. I can hear in the voice, how much you need this break, enjoy life and stay healthy always. 👍 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thanks Tim and team. When I lived in Thailand I relied on Thaiger to give me the facts and keep me informed. You were the face of that and I thank with gratitude for that 🙏

I was diagnosed with severe PTSD from multiple work traumas, assaults, victim of crimes from drug-dealing and money laundering in the workplace as a TAB betting shop manager in Australia. I also got assaulted in the city and on the streets of Perth from all the criminals I've banned, hundreds of them. One drug dealer got shot in the head, had his head cut off, body parts which were thrown into the ocean off Perth, Western Australia. He's head washed up on Rottnest Island. Such a gruesome murder. Only one story.
Before covid, I had been traveling to Thailand on holidays every year since 2016. Forced into early retirement at 58yo I had to escape Australia, could not live there no more.
I came to Bangkok on a tourist visa and recently got it transfered to the Retirement visa getting 15 months. Now no longer living in fear and have a more safe quality of life here in Bangkok. I am so blessed and grateful to be living here 🙏

As much as alot of people like to joke and talk bad about Tim. I'd like to say I appreciate him and the work he puts in. Most of the hate coming to Tim is from people that are just upset they aren't in Thailand.

I’ve felt that social media “hate” and trolling. The positive side is that I’ve greatly reduced my time on Social Media.. I’ve enjoyed your evolution and know you’ll have continued success

Hope Jay and the other two people feel better soon. My step-son in Bangkok is getting over Covid right now. Hit him pretty hard.

I’ve spent some time in both Panama and Thailand. Considering retirement. Thailand is better in every way but one. Panama has similar retirement visa requirements (pension income), but they grant PERMANENT residency and you don’t have to deal with immigration.

If Thailand wants retirees scrap the 90 day reporting its a waste of time.

Elite 5y starts at 600k THB. And just need to do 90day online updates. Walking street was always "over rated", but its a tourist attraction. With that said, it is a far cry from its prime days. Looks like a disaster zone. Pavers a mess, darker than should be due to closed up places. Tree town is a better vibe

Reqgarding the retirement visa, the country should reduce the financial requirements 800, 000 Thb, retirees are not tourists, therefore do not need 66, 666 THB per month to live, I would think 20, 000 THB should be more reasonable considering the very low cost of living in Thailand, and the government can attract more retirees from the around the world. The current rules are not encouraging. Also forcing retirees into ambiqiuos ever changing paper work and reporting over and over as if they are criminals need to stop.

Tim, your idea about Visa`s makes perfect sense! having lived there and previously visiting multiple times a year for friend catch ups.If they made it easier and closing times at 2am, life can get back to normal and so will visitors to Thailand
