HI Jim, Thank you, this is really nice to see, I saw on BBC. The Colonel LT. General Nick Borton, he was saying as re. the soldiers are from the A& S. Highlander's / Balaclava / R.R. of Scotland. --- it was right that he stated who they are. Very interesting interview with him as re. the soldier's preparing in only a very short time for the Funeral service etc. ----

P.S. I was told about a year ago that the Majority of the A & S Highlander's went to other Scottish Regiments, which was approx. 300 of them. --- the Remainder " Balaclava " are only 100 strong. ----

Jim, do you know if it's known if The Royal Regiment of Scotland will remain based at Balmoral Castle in the future, as this Regiment was a gift to the Queen from her father King George VI? Or will they be replaced by the King's own Guards?

To my knowledge
Balaclava was an engagement including my fine old regiment plus the rest of The Light Brigade.
Just to point out none of whom wore skirts or for that matter ever walked anywhere nor did any foot drill .
It was a light cavalry engagement.
Although of course Crimea included many fine old regiments.
But the charge is ours.
