We visited this dreamy onsen - a hidden gem in Akita, Japan ♨️
Показать описание
📍 Taenoyu, Akita | #妙乃湯
Just 4 hours away from Tokyo, we discovered Taenoyu deep within Nyuto Onsen village, a hidden onsen gem nestled in a beech forest. Taking a dip in the outdoor Konyoku or mixed-gender bath with a view of a stunning waterfall felt unreal, almost like being in a Ghibli scene where time slows and you’re left in awe. It’s an experience that words or visuals hardly do justice and we wish we could just stay here forever 😌
At Taenoyu, ladies are allowed to enter the mixed-gender bath with towels if preferred. For those who aren’t comfortable with the mixed-gender bath, don’t worry. Taenoyu offers separate gender baths (both outdoor and indoor) so you can still have an enjoyable experience. And if that’s not enough, they even have a reservable private open-air bath that offers a splendid view of the river!
🚄 Total travel time - 4 hours - Tokyo station to Tazawako station via Shinkansen Komachi, then public bus via Nyuto Line to Taenoyu
A heartfelt thank you to Nammy from Glocal Promotion (glocal_promotion on Instagram) for introducing us to such a gem and showing us the surrounding area at Nyuto Onsen village. She was incredibly hospitable so if you like private tours in English do check her out!
