Casting Brass Game Of Thrones Dragon Egg

In this video i'm casting a Game Of Thrones Dragon Egg using the 'Lost PLA' casting method.

This method makes it possible to cast much more complicated models.

A 3D printed object is placed in plaster, and after the plaster has hardened it's placed in the melting furnace to burn out the 3D printed PLA model.

This leaves a cavity in the plaster in the form of the object that was placed in there.

That cavity is then filled with molten brass et voila.....a perfect copy of your 3D PLA print in brass !

This egg was send to me by Mike from the UK to try out this 'lost PLA' method before i buy myself a 3D printer.

Do you think i should buy a 3D printer myself?
Then please give this video a thumbs up !

Thanks for watching !!

Please do not try this yourself because this is very dangerous !

I love the work you do for the videos. I showed practically my whole immediate family and they agreed with me. You are extremely skilled and I would love to see more 3d plaster casting videos. So excited to watch these videos :) Amazing job and keep up the great work

Can we all just agree the mallet pounding sound was so much more satisfying than the sand pounding

Wow. Never saw that technique. Well done. I think you should go for it. Beautiful project. The holes and roughness gives it more of an authentic feel.

This is fantastic. A little advice a couple years later. Get a second forge to melt the brass at the same time and try to pour the molten brass in the mold while it is still hot. put the mold in the casting sand, pack it down and take the mold out and put it in the forge then melt the brass at the same time. Take mold out of forge place in sand, repack sand if needed and pour in the molten brass :)

The imperfections make it more realistic i think. Awesome job.

I can't imagine how long it takes and how much money it does just to make that egg. Even if its not perfect, it is very unique, and as perfect as it can get. These videos aren't long enough to be really monetized by the you tube algorithm, but it takes so much longer than most videos. I love your vids!

honestly, I think the dragon egg looks better unpolished. it gives it a more natural dragon look that way. but still, love the work. if I had enough money to buy equipment i'd be doing this forging too!

Nice work! I have experience in 3d print tecnology, because i'm industrial designer. You can make a lost wax method for the next try. Regars and greetings from Argentina!
