Went to Crete/Knossos years ago and the eruption of the vulcano of Santorini (between 1600/1659 bc) caused the destruction of the Minoan civilization.

You guys left Kolumbo out. Kolumbo is viewed as one of the Santorini volcanoes. Kolumbo makes Nea Kameni look like a little geyser. Probes used in a research expedition in the first part of 2024 found a large magma chamber under Kolumbo that is growing year by year. The study concluded that Kolumbo is a major hazard with catastrophic potential, and closed by recommending that a monitoring system be implemented at Kolumbo. Note the implications of that--i.e., Kolumbo does not have monitoring in place at present.
