The Secrets of reading the amount of Spin Part 2

In this Youtube table Tennis coaching tutorial video, I explain how to read the amount of spin on the ball. Three tips are provided to help you in reading the spin. But stick around till the end when I give the BONUS TIP which may be the most valuable tip of all.
Tip no.4 difference in sound between spin and no spin
Tip no.5 Flight of the ball, how the ball is traveling in the air
Tip no.6 Contact on the ball, where I hit the ball creates different amounts of spin

Lovely scientific approach towards reading opponents service, which is very very important in today's game, with a 'Bonus advice' at the end. Very helpful indeed.

Very good video! Since the wait for the second part was definitely worth it! Your tips will make it easier for me to read the spin. Thanks a lot! Keep it up!

Thanks Mr Eli Baraty for the reply.

Order of 6 tricks in my response was as per the sequence in your two parts.

When receivng a ball, we need to practice all of them together ALMOST SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Light travel faster than sound so we see first and hear later.

I tried my self, vrry tough. Need daily extensive practice. You have given intelligent inputs.

Warm regards.

Thanks for the tips🙏 Anyway you could post the types of spins on the serves in the Use Your Eyes section in the description of the video or in the comments? It will help validate our guesses !

About your last tip. I used to play till 1999 and now i am again starting.

So when i was playing, i completely stopped looking at the ball on table and i only focused on the bat of other player. This gave me slightly more time to react. Off course once in a while you mishit a shot but most of the time you hit right because of practice this has become natural.

So this is my little tip if someone wants to upgrade the game bit more (that is don't look the ball on the table at all and see it onky in peripheral vision)

The more one learns, the more one discriminates their need to knowledge, thanks for filling my gap.

Hitting more towards the tip of the racket will create more spin as the hitting point is further away from the wrist axis and then moves more.

great explanation, perfect. One question, can you make a video about rubbers? I would be interested to know where I have the most spin, I mean what do I have to look out for with the rubbers? Thanks

Great video coach. ? Top spin problem I have on the forehand is top player have the ability to get so much spin it kick off the table and drops low rather than high. With contact point it it best to step back to let the spin die a bit or take it early to disrupt the ball more of the bounce?

1. Marking on the ball.
2. Wrist movement
3. Contact on the bat
4. Hitting sound
5. Flight of the ball
6. Contact on the ball

Mr Sweet Barati,
Please make part three amalgating all these important tricks.

Do we need the learn the list by heart and / or mediate an Indian yoga "Tratak" .

Wow, I didn't even know about this in my many years of playing. It was instinct.

I just knew some of them had "bad technique" and there was no spin. Turns out it was deliberate deception.

ThhKh = spin (hitting the sponge at an angle and no direct hit onto wood)

Thokk = no spin (hitting the wood - more direct hit into wood)

Congratulations for you video!!
I have problems reading the serves that are very close to the "no spin" point, I mean, the serves that have a little bit top spin, or no spin, or with a little bit back spin, because the movement of the racket are very very similar for these 3 kinds of serve.
For example, some times I read a soft back spin as a "no spin" serve or viceversa, due to that, I return the ball to the net or too hight, allowing to my opponent finish the point.
Regarding this I have problems specially with the tomahawk serves.
Can you help me please?
Thanks!
