Dude! I sent a 10GB movie from my windows 11 laptop to my Samsung S21 Ultra and it took only 14 minutes at a rate of 140Mbps. This is the fastest transfer speed I've ever experienced between a PC and a smart phone. I must mention that both laptop and phone were connected to a 5GHz WiFi. I've been using Samsung flow but it's a hit and miss situation, Nearby share performed far better in my opinion. I tested from Accra Ghana so I believe it will work in any country. I got around 20-25 MBps (Megabytes per sec) on my pc and my S23 Ultra, very satisfied with this rate. I think it depends on your wifi adapter on your pc. It must support MU-MIMO (on the new WiFi6) to get the higher transfer rate.

My experience is inconsistent: in around 80% of transfers the app chooses Bluetooth transmission over Wi-Fi. I have a 5Ghz router in 1m distance and it's all fine with the network. When I get lucky and Wi-Fi is chosen for a transmission, I get around 30 Mb/s transfer speed.

Good to finally have something like this (and shame we didn't have have anything from Google/Microsoft until 2023).

Finally. I was waiting for something like this for Android and windows. I share my files alot. And i always use Gmail as file sharing mediate to move file from my phone to windows vis-a-versa. It's a pretty headache to do that.

Using a proxy, managed to download & install it in Iran! WORKS perfectly for now, no bugs yet!

For many years I've been using a local shared folder in my Windows PC. I connect my phone using CX File Explorer and drop the files in this folder. The speed is the maximum your router can handle. Since it uses UnPn, the wireless transfer speeds are up to 90MB/s for me. My PC is connected through Ethernet.

From my quick and dirty testing, it looks like it uses Bluetooth for data transfer (100 KB/s tops) if it fails to make connection via Wi-Fi or when the computer doesn't have Wi-Fi at all, like my desktop PC.
When it does achieve a connection via Wi-Fi, I was able to get over 25 MB/s. Both devices need to be connected on the same network for Wi-Fi transfer, though.

i tried it. Its not as great as it sounds bcz the difference between the mobile version of nearby share and the windows version is that the windows version requires an active internet connection while the mobile version works offline

Well I used it about a day or 2 transferring big file is no big deal when done from PC to phone but when transferring the same file from phone to PC. Then the speed drops to KBps and I have used wird to transfer file from phone to PC

I'm from Germany and I have been using this feature for quite some time on my WIndows PC... and it works out perfectly fine without any hickups or anything. The App is in German and can be used as you'd expect it. So the only rock in the way is to get the exe, because the site is geoblocked when you're from Germany. But solving this is so easy, just set up a VPN and change it to a officially supported country and the android download page will show you the download button. After that, you can switch off the VPN and set Nearby Share up as everyone else... it'll work.

Also: This is some of the greatest things Google could do to the Android Ecosystem, this is such a mighty feature with such high potential. I absolutely love it and don't want to miss out on this for even a hour. It's such a timesaver. People, use nearby share! ANd google should advertise this way more so people know of this feature existing on their phones.

I have a problem, I have Windows 10 pro and the nearby share file simply does not want to install.

I really liked that this became available for PC as it was the missing piece to really connect my Android devices with my Windows laptop.

Quick Share ia good if you have all Samsung (including the Galaxy Books) but my laptop is a different brand so Nearby Share is a pretty good alternative.

It's fking fantastic fast and all it should be for my android and windows setup I can send files at 100+ MBps WOHOOOO. Yes, I am really this happy.
