It’s crazy how all the galaxies in the Local Group are gravitationally bound and will form a single giant galaxy one day

Council of Giants? I've never heard of that before. Fascinating.

A virtual reality program of this would be super cool to explore. Especially if you could zoom around inside the galaxies to explore the known specific features.

I still cant fathom how we can detect, calaculate locations of and keep track of things so far outside our own Galaxy.

dude i love your content! youtube recommended me your video for no reason, and then i got hooked on Universe Sandbox 2 and I got the game myself and now i watch your videos and play the game non stop and it got me interested in science way more, and now I can talk science stuff to my friends cuz they don't know jack about anything lol THANK YOU ANTON! You changed my perspective on life!

Completely tangential question: Is the exertion of gravity between two distant objects subject to the "nothing travels faster than light" principle?

That is, when we experience some gravitational pull in the direction of an object, are we being pulled to where that object is *now* (instantaneous effect of gravity) regardless of where it may appear to be, or are we being pulled toward where it *was* at the time that the gravity waves/gravitons we experience were emitted by the distant mass, regardless of where it actually is?

04:44 imagine a civilization that has no other way than seeing our Galaxy from this perspective, tbh it looks impressive and terrifying at the same time.

Another Awesome Video! Thanks For Bringing Astronomy To The Common Person

Nice video, well done.
I am thinking — based on the video — you seemed to imply that basically a Local Group is defined by the Gravitational Bonds between those galaxies.
I am openly wondering if there is a map that shows the gravitational force in a topographical manner/projection.
Like the topographical representation of the ground elevations on most maps of Earth.

Thanks for sharing this with us! I understand it better now than I ever had before, I like all the perspectives you showed us views from.

Anton I've been following you for years. I would like you to do a serious on batteries, and the elements used to make our current high density, and the old style original batteries where used liquid to make batteries from lemon or potatoes. There's so much technology in this area that is getting beyond our understanding of why things make a battery, and what doping is, and why lithium seems to be the wonder element. I'll leave it in your court to create the series that will help all of us.

All those wars mankind had since the beginning of history.... is relatively meaningless like specks of dust compared to these wonderful creations.

BACK IN THE 60's MY AUNT MABEL HAD A FORD GALAXIE. IT WAS ONLY BIG ENOUGH FOR 6 PASSENGERS MAX.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO IT, BUT LATER SHE TRAVELED AROUND IN A METEOR, A MERCURY METEOR.
GOOD OLD AUNT ALLWAYS HAD HER "" EYES ON THE PRIZE ""

Im writing a novel that pushes the boundaries of scale in hard scifi, and i can feel my world being fleshed out as I listen. The scale of space never stops blowing my mind. Thinking that there's those other galaxies out there as im sitting in my room blows my mind.

Was cool of Anton to go out there in his spaceship and get these pictures for us.

Eventually someone will use the data to make a VR representation. Maybe it will be more understandable in 3D with good navigation controls. And I guess GAIA data could deal with the time dimension.
