This is the song that was being sung the night I made apublic commitment to accept Jesus as my Savior way back in 1973. I've stumbled along the way many times and been backslidden but He always reached down his hand and picked me up again. ThankYou Lord Jesus

My dad went to be with the Lord yesterday. I played this song as well as three other songs(Amazing Grace and I want to stroll over to heaven with you as well as Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling)of Allan Jackson’s too him while he lay in a coma. He passes away a couple hrs after that. I truly can’t wait to see him again. Thanks for the wonderful songs you have sung and created.

My daddy used to use this song softly for invitation as a preacher. Just last week, mama joined him in Heaven. It just put me in mind of this song that I heard hundreds of times at the end of each time he did what God called him to do. I watched daddy bring a lot of people to the son of God, and I’m certain he was there, giving this invitation to her. I would’ve praised God if He had healed mama and brought her home to me, but I praise Him even more for bringing her home to Him. We asked Him to heal mama. He did.

I was just watching an old Billy Graham crusade in Pittsburgh being rebroadcast on TBN, and as new believers were joining Christ at the alter call, this lovely old hymn was being sung by the choir. Tears covered my face as I watched hundreds come to Christ, and I thought about how lovingly tender that moment is when we first believe. All praise and glory to the Lord for He is so worthy! Amen

I was saved when I was 11, turning 12. In the sweet gloaming of a June night in Greeneville TN when my Aunt and Uncle took me to see the incomparable Billy Graham preach. I went up front to this song to give myself to my Lord Jesus. I didn't follow him right away, I had to wait until I was 55 to renew that vow to God, but I've never forgotten it. Thank you Rev. Graham!
