The persistent thought I have as I leave after my sidewalk shift is, “Thank you, God.” I love that sidewalk. Just about everyone who passes by talks with us. Most know why we are there. We wear pro-life pins or carry a sign. The media obsesses about us. People are passionate about being “with” us or about being “against" us. We tell them we are praying for them, all of them. We mean it. It is the most uncomplicated thing. Thank you, “40 Days for Life” leadership team. You make our hearts sing! ❤

I will now be ending every work meeting with “you can do this and you will do this” 😂

Been part of 40DFL for several years now. When I started going out, I took the church hours 11-1 on Sundays as there weren't any volunteers signing up to go at all on Sunday. My thought was that then no one had an excuse to not volunteer on Sundays as their church hours were covered.

It was interesting how some people would come by and thank me for doing so, but when I invited them to join me, they said they couldn't. I finally recognized that some people are too afraid of being out on the sidewalk and possibly having someone they know see them.

I also discovered that there was a church that never signed up, but would come out one Sunday during the campaign, bringing a dozen or more people with them to stand and pray. So I started bringing out extra signs to the sidewalk in case anyone else showed up during my shift.

Since I no longer drive, I go out once a week to a street near my home that goes directly to a military base with the "Ask me about abortion pill reversal' sign. If I get out there at just the right time there are hundreds of eyes that can see the message. I'll get an occasional wave, or another acknowledgement, although most ignore it, but Jesus knows when someone will need to see that sign and look online to get the information.

I did have an interesting conversation recently. A nicely dressed 30 something man walked up and asked me what my sign meant. After explaining it. He told me, "That's silly!" and turned and walked away. Well, it may be silly to him, but only Jesus knows how important it is to some young woman who desperately wants to change her mind.
