These stories are so important for generations that have no concept of what these men endured.

The 101'st went through a Hell nobody can even fathom. They weren't just surrounded by the Germans in Bastogne, they were being attacked by 4 entire divisions including the most elite tank units ever fielded by the SS and Wehrmacht. They were fighting veterans of the Eastern Front and still managed to hold them back.

My grandpa was also involved with the battle of the Bulge. He was in a M-18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer and was part of Patton’s 3rd army. My grandpa was the machine gunner for the Hellcat, and he also could aim the tank turret because he was good with Math. Everything I learned about him was from my uncle, as he died when I was only 6. Everything he brought back, including a German Officer’s Luger pistol, was lost in a fire back in the 70s

I watched this interview. That fog lifting helped save their asses. It allowed air support to come in. Bless each and every one of them.

My Uncle was 82nd Airborne, he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, lived through the rest, then fought in the Battle of the Bulge on the front as well. He never told me any stories of the those battles. This makes me feel like I know what he went through so we could all live free.

So glad I was able to befriend a whole group of bad ass ww2 vets. They came in to get coffee every morning as a group at the bar I worked at. Irish coffees. Those men would drink young men under the table 😂

My grandfather “Sarge” was a Master Sargent at The Battle of The Bulge. He said it was the coldest he had ever been. He said one of the his soldiers was dead and their was a young soldier with him in a foxhole. The young soldier was so cold he wanted to get out of the foxhole and go to the dead soldier to take off his jacket for himself. Sarge told him to not get up from the foxhole. But he didn’t follow orders and when he got up he was shot and killed.

This was only one of a handful of stories he told me. They were all tragic. And he never looked me in the eye when he told them. He kind of stared off in to the distance.
