According to David Chase (who directed this commercial) this was meant to be treated as a continuation of the series. He even pulled the show’s original director of photography back to film this. Along with the countless allusions to the original show, the reason for meeting at the same restaurant as Made in America is left open.

Even when chasing a paycheck, David Chase stays so committed to the art. What a legend.

What's so touching about this, is that the two of them really are best friends in real life, almost like a real brother and sister. She even says her kids call him "Uncle Rob."
