You can get to know Granada by wandering through its narrow streets, trying the tapas in its bars or visiting its monuments, but there is also another way to explore and understand the city, namely by enjoying the amazing views from its many viewpoints (miradores).

1. Mirador de San Nicolás – 00:00
The Mirador de San Nicolás is perhaps the most famous viewpoint in Granada. Since ex-US president Bill Clinton visited in 1997 and said it has "the most beautiful sunset in the world", the Mirador de San Nicolás has become a must-see for tourists.

The beauty of this viewpoint is undeniable, with the Alhambra and the Generalife face to face, the city at its feet, and the magnificent Sierra Nevada behind.

2. Mirador de Santa Isabel la Real - 00:54
Located in a newly built square next to the Monasterio de Santa Isabel la Real, the views from here are similar to the ones from the nearby Mirador de San Nicolas. However, from here you get a better perspective of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada.
Due to the fact that this viewpoint is set above the streets, it is a peaceful and quiet area.

3. Mirador de los Carvajales – 01:27
This viewpoint is hidden in the secluded Placeta of Carvajal in the lower part of the Albaicín district. It is very close to the Calle Calderería and the teahouses. Here you can get magnificent views of the Alhambra and the Generalife from the opposite hill.

Especially at sunset, this viewpoint is a fun place to be. It is not uncommon to see groups of friends in the square with their guitars and other instruments playing and singing flamenco.

4. Mirador de San Miguel Alto – 02:05
It is the highest viewpoint in Granada. From here you get some amazing panoramic views of the city, the Albaicín district and its walls, the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada. You get to it after a long, steep walk, but the rewarding views are well worth the effort.

5. Mirador del Barranco del Abogado – 02:47
The Barranco del Abogado was inhabited intermittently since before the arrival of the Arabs in Granada. However, it was the Arabs who transformed this part of the city. Due to the increase in population from the 12th century, the neighborhoods of al-Fajjarin and Nâyd were formed.

The Barranco del Abogado viewpoint is one of the hidden gems that only the locals know. It is located in the south-eastern part of the city.
