LIVE: President Biden celebrates passage of COVID-19 relief bill

President Joe Biden is addressing the nation from the Rose Garden to further discuss the massive $1.9 trillion rescue plan he signed into law.

Biden has said that the "American Rescue Plan," which he signed on Thursday, will help defeat the virus, nurse the economy back to health and deliver direct aid to Americans struggling to make ends meet.

Officials said that cash distributions from the legislation could begin arriving in the bank accounts of Americans this weekend.

“This historic legislation is about rebuilding the backbone of this country,” Biden said as he signed the bill in the Oval Office.
