This is 90GBP cheaper than the Hiby R4 and feels like the perfect "AKM version" of the Hiby R3 Gen II. It has the same OS as the R3 GenII, it is portable enough and offers a good amount of accessories out of the box.

I have loved my R3 Gen II, is perfect for travelling and I was looking for a player with AKM DAC that wouldn't cost 500GBP. I hope Hiby or TempoTec will offer something like the R4 with AKM Quad DAC at some point...the value space is getting very interesting! :D

it’s been 6 months that I do not know what to buy to replace my 4 years old Fiio M7 installed in my car, via 3.5mm AUX line in, the day it will be out of order.
I like the Hiby R3 gen2, the Hiby R1, the Fiio jm21, but each has a battery life too small for me.

Despite the same short battery life, this tempotec V3 falls right down in my wishlist after watching your review. Why?
I like its form factor. It is a non android device ( for me android = google = a spy undercover). His three physical buttons under the screen are very convenient for blind control when I drive.
I am able to import the Tempo Tec in France for 180€, which is equivalent to the price of Fiio JM21 or Hiby R3 Gen2.

Sound field is nice for me if not set too high, and not good for everything, I set at 1.2, and turn on and off as needed. I bought after last time I saw the review.

Thanks for your review. Is it faster to update after loading new files than a R3 II? Quicker interface navigation too? (album covers loading for example) The screen looks very yellowish, is it from the camera footage or same in person?

You got the power output spec wrong, it's much higher then 100mw. It's 825mw per channel on balanced, and 245mw PER CHANNEL on 3.5. So total output in balanced of 1650 mw

I like tempotec but the price of this unit is awfully close to the hiby r4 which is an andriod player.

Almost the same as the Hiby R3 II, with the same great sound, almost certainly, and the usual terrible firmware, without album covers in “Artists” and if you have to scroll through 500 artists between the letter “A” for Adele and the “Y” for Yes, you wear out your thumb and the display to scroll and it takes you half an hour because there is no column on the right side with the initial alphabet letters of the artist to select.
