There were several reasons I went with the roscoe over a salsa, or canyon. The first was product support at my local shop. Nobody in so cal near me carry’s anything salsa. So any warranty or customer service stuff is not happening right away. Second is although the versatility of the salsa is cool the rear dropout is a failure point I just don’t have in the trek as I am into the KISS principle. Plus as a clyde I want more strength and less potential parts to have to carry or service on the trail. The fat tire is a moot point as I came from a 2.8 27.5 and the roscoe 7 I bought has a 2.6 29 on it stock so I don’t feel like I am losing much but gaining so much more with a 29 over a 27.5. At least not how and where I ride. Also the geometry is similar but the trek definitely has the more modern geo that will still be current for years to come. Also I don’t know if all roscoe 7’s come stock tubeless but mine definitely did. The salsa is a great bike for someone who wants that versatility to go from single to 27.5 or 29 etc but I wanted more durability and I never plan on going back to 27.5 or single speed so the choice was easy for me. But agreed the timber jack is a great bike.

Newbie MTBer here and I have the Roscoe 6 and man, I have zero complaints! It’s perfect for any downhill and cross country trail. The meaty tires do slow me down a bit when following behind someone with any 29er but when it comes to any downhill and hitting jumps, you’re going to want those beefy tires. I also think the design of the trek Roscoe is better overall but to each his own. I also don’t mind that the Roscoe has less versatility because it makes up with its durability. Highly recommend the Roscoe line to any hard tail rider out there! Great vid guys!

Awesome review. Love the little touches like throwing the components up there in text. New to the scene so it helps a lot

The Salsa May also be run as a mullet. So, factor that in. You got 27.5, 29, mullet, and single speed. Four bikes in one! And all that aside, the fork is definitely a home run for Salsa.

Great video, guys

Ok - let's go all in on options:
Timberjack 29 XT vs Roscoe 9 in 29" .
Which would you choose for performance, options, and comfort for their intended markets? Forget about cost
