Scientists Hope Their Discovery Is a Mistake. What's this?

Astrophysicists are trying to figure out what destroys entire galaxies in the most extreme regions of the universe.

Scientists at the International Center for Radio Astronomy Research in Australia have studied more than 11,000 galaxies and concluded that their gas and dust are being stripped away. Without this building material, galaxies stop forming new stars, and the old ones eventually fade away.

So what is causing galaxies to be eaten up by some unknown galactic monster? And what cosmic anomalies still defy explanation?

the fact that no matter how much knowledge we had the future can be unexpected.. .

My guess is that our knowledge is still primitive to actually understand the universe

It's so hard to even imagine metals forming clouds on a far away planet.. things we'd never survive.. but would love to see for ourselves.. the universe is so amazing..

My idea is that Black holes undetectably(as yet) turn matter into either space time or dark energy fuelling the ongoing expansion of the universe.

I think that I may not be an anomaly. The universe is so unimaginably vast. We have yet but scratched the surface. It is possible this the first time we have observed this. There is nothing to say that this is not an uncommon thing in the grand scheme of the universe.

It amazes me that we know so much about planets that are hundreds and thousands of light years away 🤯

When you compared the image of atoms with electrons rotating around them versus that of planets orbiting their suns, it shows a similarity between these two things. There's an old video by IBM, I think called, "Powers of Ten." Some call this the macrosm and the microsm. Regardless it is something to think about and contemplate insofar as the nature of reality.

This video seems like it is stitched together from intros of different videos.

Its caused because the entire universe is a simulation and that galaxy simulation isn't required any longer.

6:28 "because there are no neutron stars in the vicinity of the Milky Way ...." except for the thousands of neutron stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

As a species, we'll definitely end up wiping ourselves out before even an asteroid decides to come by and smash the planet

The cosmos is full of riddles and mysteries, the answers to which cannot be found even by the best scientists in the world. Outside of our cozy Earth a strange, frightening, mysterious and incomprehensible world of gigantic proportions begins, about which we are just beginning to learn something concrete. I don't think humanity will ever get to the bottom of everything, but since we are so drawn to get all these answers, it means for sure it's not for nothing and we should try to study this world further.

We probably only know 1% of how the universe works.

Strange things indeed, things we can never truly explain and understand but we can pretend to try.

It's sounds so "urgent" but the time scales involved in just 1 star burning all of it gasses and turning into whatever it's going to turn into is beyond what I'd ever give a $hit interesting though!!👍👍
