Restoration of the Monumental Staircase by Mauro Codussi - FLOOR RESTORATION

In 1498 Mauro Codussi designed the two-stairway monumental staircase in the @scuolagrandesangiovanni , one of the most important venetian “Scuole”: institution whose purpose was to serve as meeting place for charitable lay confraternities.
He managed to create an illusion of great depth even if he was forced to work in a narrow architectural space due to the closeness of the Scuola to rio di San Giovanni.
Since 2018 @venetianheritage has decided to support the restoration of the monumental staircase as its precarious static condition required immediate structural works. This huge project has also been made possible thanks to the precious support of @thegrittipalace , generous and faithful partner of Venetian Heritage.
