As Peruvians become increasingly aware of climate change issues, retail companies are responding by implementing their own efforts to conserve Peru’s natural resources. Attractive design and safety measures are no longer the only parameters under consideration when building commercial spaces, as green buildings increasingly become the norm.

More and more retail clients are conducting business with companies and providers aligned to their own corporate strategies vis-à-vis climate change. IFC client Latam Logistics Properties (LLP) believes that EDGE certification makes a difference when closing business deals with clients committed to environmentally-friendly practices. Intercorp’s Puruchuco, the largest retail space in all of Peru, is proud to have certified a shopping mall that receives more than two million customers each month.

IFC expresses its appreciation to the following for their participation: Julio Pavletich (Director of Operations, Intercorp Retail) and Alvaro Chinchayán (Country Manager, Latam Logistic Properties).

"EDGE in Peru: The Business Case for Retail" is a production of F45 Fotografía Industrial.

All projects to date in Peru have been certified by GBCI.

An innovation of IFC, EDGE is a software, a standard, and a certification system for more than 160 countries that proves that everyone wins financially by building green. EDGE creates intersections among developers, building owners, banks, governments and homeowners to jump start the mainstreaming of green buildings and help tackle climate change.
