I love the laundry room. With the area for a dog, because dogs are very social animals and need to see what's happening and be around humans (unlike cats whom are very independent) I went with a fenced gate door which divided in the center to avoid the closed in/left out feeling a dog would feel. Otherwise, this could end up in separation anxiety with any dog. So it was no surprise that the dog was clawing at the door. And how could you blame him/her? As for the dog dishes, depending on the height of the dog, it would be good if the taps are at a height to allow room for elevated bowls as an option so larger dogs don't have to bend so low to the floor to eat and drink, especially in their senior years, which would be harder on their spine. I also went with green forest wall murals for the dogs so they can feel that sense of nature in the room. I also as well added good quality dog beds, along with classical music playing so low that we humans can't hear it, but dogs can due to their extreme sense of hearing, and helps keep them calm and relaxed. Just ask Cesar Millan - The Dog Whisperer. Plus, a mild scent of lavender helps relax dogs as well. And I mean mild, due to a dog's strong sense of smell.

I don’t understand the dog bowl filler at floor level. My dogs dish gets so slimy very quickly and I need to wash it every few days. Am I the only one? Why not just use the sink which is in the same room to wash and fill the dog bowls? This seems to be overkill and not very hygienic.
