I lived in Poole for 30 years, Shore Road, and the beaches were my playground. I had a 30-foot yacht moored in the harbor off Evening Hill until one day a storm dragged it off its mooring and damaged it. I was a resident DJ at both the Sandbanks Hotel and Haven Hotel I was buddies with the owner Paul Butterworth. My friend owned the Scandinavian-designed house Pieces Of Eight complete with an indoor swimming pool, those were the days in the mid-60s Sandbanks was not so developed. We had a beach hut next to the Pavillion there was no problem with parking. John Lennon was a visitor to Sandbanks as his aunt Mimi owned a bungalow not far from the Ferry. I used to sail my yacht to Old Harry Rocks bay drop anchor go ashore with the tender and go horse riding on top of the cliffs at Old Harry. Just watching your videos brought back all the memories, especially Shore Road beach where we would hang out. Times they are a Changin. Thanks for the memories.

Lived in Poole all my life. Before my friends moved back to the USA they lived on Panorama Road next door to Harry Redknapp. They used to let us stay there when they were away which was often. Spent many fun times in the summer in their back garden watching the boats come and go. 😊

I lived there as a 10 year old boy for 6 months in 1970. Roamed all over the peninsula as there was never anyone about. Never paid too much attention as to fences and property lines. There's a high point I found after scrambling up a slope with a full 360 degree view panorama of the bay and harbour. Totally spectacular.

Been lucky enough to live in the poole area for 30 years and now in christchurch. Sitting on a public bench next to the ferry on the sandbanks side is a joy that I find myself doing most weekends when the weathers lovely, the views looking towards the purbeck side are truely amazing and as good a view as anywhere in the UK. My advice to tourist travelling in a car would be to take time to park up on the sandbanks side and do the same thing with a cuppu from the local cafe as you won't be aloud out of your car while on the ferry for the short ferry crossing in either direction.

I grew up here! There used to be a newsagents instead of the restaurant & a racing stables tucked away where the horses were exercised on the beach early morning. The ferry was free for pedestrians & cyclists & ran 24/7. If they saw you waiting at Shell Bay they'd come over for you. Theres always been a one way road around the peninsula; we used to race our pedal bikes round it! Sadly most of the beautiful houses have been pulled down & replaced. Its very built up compared to sixty years ago; but there's always been queues for the ferry! It's bitter cold & damp in the

n the 1960s 70s it was a wonderful place, John Lennon bought his aunt a home in Panorama Rd. My dad wanted to buy the little garage repairs for 25000 pound but my mum objected. Pleased to see your video as I left Bournemoth 28 years ago to live in a less crowded paradise New Zealand. The chains of the ferry guide it not pull it

I struggle to understand why these houses are so expensive, most of them look quite tacky IMO. So they’re on the coast, so are many other areas of the UK. Personally I feel it’s hype over quality.

Nice sunny evening drive along Sandbanks and then the icing on the cake - going on the ferry over to Swanage

Stayed in many places within Poole and Sandbanks over the last 30 years. Infact, I am here in a multi million £ vacation place as I write this. Believe me when I say that the idea that Sandbanks is always full of people and traffic is not true. During the high season, maybe, but for a lot of the year, it is really quiet. It is one of the best places in the world.

Used to live in treetops at 7:31. Was a lovely property, beach at the end of the garden and dead quite that far along it.

Just love love this place, go down frequently between april and september to enjoy the fab scenery . Shall be down again next month for the last time this year. Boat trips out of Poole quay are a bargain as you see so much more of the large harbour and coast .

I lived/worked in Bournemouth about 10 years ago. I walked along the beach to the ferry a few times (at a cost of £1!) and went to Shell Bay. It was so quiet over there, on days when people were squashed like sardines on Bournemouth beach.
